Guidlines for Media Reviews
Reviews may cover any type of material of interest to
chemists and chemistry students. Although books form the majority of
the reviews, we welcome also discussion of software, web sites, videos
and films.
We will on occasion publish multiple reviewws of some
material. If you would like to submit a review of an item which has
already been covered in this section, you are welcome to do so after
consulting the section editor.
We welcome suggestions for material to be reviewed,
both from readers of the journal and from publishers. Please contact
the section editor with any proposals.
A typical review will lie between 400 and 1000 words,
but length is not critical - if you have so much to say that 1000 words
is too few, feel free to exceed it. Bear in mind, though, that the best
reviews are both informative and interesting; excessive length can bore
the reader!
Because of the electronic format of the journal, graphics,
URLs and simulations can be included within a review. Reviews which
are entirely text-based, however, are equally welcome.
A review is normally expected within about twelve weeks
of receipt of the material to be reviewed. However, this is not an unalterable
deadline, and reviewers should not feel constrained to produce a review
within three months if other committments are more urgent.
Reviews should be sent electronically in either ascii
text, as an HTML document or in Word 6 or Lotus Word Pro format to the
editor of this section, Dr Hugh Cartwright at Oxford (e-mail:
Hugh.Cartwright@chemistry.oxford.ac.uk).
Electronic galley proofs will be prepared from your
draft review. These will incorporate any editing carried out before
publication. You will be notified shortly before publication of the
location of the galley, which will be available for checking for about
one week.
